Plenary meetings in the Member States
The EJN holds at least three plenary meetings every year (Article 5 of the EJN Decision).
The general purpose of the plenary meetings is:
- to allow Contact Points to get to know each other and share experience, particularly concerning the operation of the Network;
- to provide a forum for discussion of practical and legal problems encountered by the Member States in the field of international judicial cooperation in criminal matters.
Two of the plenary meetings are organised in the Member State holding the Presidency of the Council (at the end of each semester). These meetings are meant to enable the Contact Points from all the Member States to meet authorities of the host Member State and to visit specific bodies with responsibilities for judicial cooperation, exchanging experience. In these plenary meeting, at least three Contact Points per Member State, two Contact Points from the candidate and one from EJN Associated countries and one contact Point from partner countries are invited, as well as observers.
The experience acquired within the European Judicial Network shall be passed on to the Council and the Commission to serve as a basis for discussion of possible legislative changes and practical improvements in the area of international judicial cooperation.
