COPEN Meeting in Brussels On 31 March, Hugh Dockry attended the COPEN meeting in Brussels, where he presented the outcome of the EJN Regular Meeting, which took place at Eurojust in February.
New EAW Decision from the CJEU: EAW competing with an extradition request from a third country On 20 March 2025, the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) delivered a judgment under the preliminary ruling procedure in the case C-763/22 on the interpretation of Article 16 of the EAW FD.
24th Tool Correspondents’ Meeting The 24th Tool Correspondents’ meeting of the EJN, under the Polish Presidency, took place at Eurojust premises on 27 March. The Tool Correspondents are appointed by the EU Member States to update the EJN website tools for their country further to the developments in their national law.
EJN Presidency Board meeting and 46th EJN Regular meeting On 13 February, the EJN held its 46th EJN Regular meeting in The Hague under the Polish EJN Presidency. Approximately 60 EJN Contact Points from the EU and EU candidate/associated countries attended the meeting.
Visit of the new Commissioner for Democracy, Justice and Rule of Law, Michael Mc Grath On 16 January, European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice and Rule of Law, Michael Mc Grath, and his delegation met with Hugh Dockry, Head of the EJN Secretariat at Eurojust’s premises, marking the start of his mandate.
Meeting with the President of the High Court of Ireland Secretary to the EJN, Hugh Dockry, had a very fruitful meeting with the Honourable Mr. Justice David Barniville, President of the High Court of Ireland, in Dublin last week to discuss judicial involvement with the EJN.
EJN Tool Correspondents Training 2024 This hands-on training provided a step-by-step guidance from the web team, the EJN website consultants and the EJN Secretariat with the aim to update the Atlas, Compendium, Fiches Belges, information about the respective national system and the Contact point tools. The participants also gained more insights on the new Reporting Tool.
The EJN launches the EJN Fiches Belges for Montenegro and Serbia The EJN Fiches Belges for Montenegro and Serbia have been launched on the EJN website and could be consulted here. Aiming to support the judicial practitioners in preparation of their MLA requests to Montenegro and Serbia, the newly launched Fiches Belges provide information on the legal systems and on the criminal procedures in these countries.
COPEN Meeting in Brussels, 20 November 2024 On 20 November, Hugh Dockry delivered a presentation to COPEN. He spoke about the outcome of EJN’s National Correspondents’ Meeting in October, where it was agreed to extend the mandate of the Presidency Board Members and that two additional Presidency Board Members would be elected.
63rd Plenary Meeting of the European Judicial Network The 63rd Plenary Meeting of the European Judicial Network under the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, attended by 130 Contact Points, took place in Budapest from 6 to 8 November 2024.
4th Regional Meeting of the European Judicial Network (EJN) Contact Points in Poland The meeting took place in Warsaw/Poland, on 7-8 October 2024. Hosted by the National Prosecutor’s Office, the meeting was opened by Mr. Mirosław Jerzy Iwanicki, Director of the Bureau of International Cooperation.
WBCJ Project Outreach Event in Belgrade, 26 September 2024 On 26 September, the Western Balkans Criminal Justice (WBCJ) Project organised the Outreach Event for Serbia which falls under a series of similar events organised by the project in the Western Balkans.
16th EJN National Correspondents’ Meeting The 16th EJN National Correspondents’ Meeting of the European Judicial Network (EJN), under the Hungarian Presidency, took place at Eurojust premises on 2 October 2024. During this meeting, the extension of the current mandate of the elected members of the EJN Presidency Board was discussed and adopted unanimously.
7th EJN EU-WB Contact Points meeting On the 12th of September in Skopje (North Macedonia), the EJN Secretariat organized the annual meeting dedicated to the cooperation with the Western Balkans.
