85th meeting of the PC-OC

From 14 to 16 May 2024, the PC-OC held its 85th meeting in Strasbourg. A draft Third Additional Protocol to the European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters was discussed, including the possible accession of Thailand and Kazakhstan to this Convention. Further on the agenda was the future workplan of the PC-OC, as well as concrete cases and experiences relating to the practical implementation of the Council of Europe conventions on cooperation in criminal matters. Following this meeting, members of the PC-OC held an exchange of views with a delegation of representatives from the International Legal Cooperation Department of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

This meeting was particularly interesting for the EJN given that EJN plays a pivotal and affirmative role in the practical implementation of the CoE Conventions that aim to facilitate and streamline the judicial cooperation in criminal matters between EU member states and third Countries.

The Council of Europe’s Committee of Experts on the Operation of European Conventions on Co-operation in Criminal Matters (PC-OC) is the forum in which, since 1981, experts from all member and observer states and organisations come together to elaborate ways to improve international cooperation in criminal matters and identify solutions to practical problems encountered in the application of Council of Europe Conventions in this field.
