The EJN Secretariat took part in three national roundtables of the EU-funded EMPRO project (“Empowerment of the Framework Decisions 2008/947 and 2009/829 through EU Probation Services”) organised in Belgium on 2 October, France on 27 October, and Romania on 28 October.
Representing the EJN Secretariat, Natalia Ratajczak, Legal Assistant, participated online in three meetings, explaining the functioning of the EJN and contributing to discussions on how the EJN can support probation officers in their work related to the implementation of Framework Decisions 2008/947/JHA and 2009/829/JHA.
Her presentation focused on the EJN’s role in facilitating judicial cooperation in criminal matters, demonstrating the EJN website and its practical e-tools, including the Atlas, Compendium, Fiches Belges, and Judicial Library. These tools assist judicial practitioners in efficiently handling cross-border cases and applying mutual recognition instruments in practice.
The EMPRO roundtables gathered probation officers, legal practitioners, policymakers, and other experts to share national experiences, identify challenges, and formulate recommendations to improve the understanding and application of Framework Decisions 2008/947/JHA and 2009/829/JHA within the European Union.
