Following the recommendations outlined in the Final on the 10th Round of Mutual Evaluations regarding the implementation of the European Investigation Order, the European Commission convened a meeting of the Expert Group on the application of Directive 2014/41/EU and the use of videoconferencing for participation in court hearings from another Member State. The meeting took place on 31 March 2025 and focused on the following key topics:
- Cross-border surveillance
- Interception of telecommunications
- Procedures for requesting consent to use information Report previously obtained through law enforcement channels as evidence in judicial proceedings
- Participation of suspects, accused persons, and victims of crime in court hearings via videoconference from another Member State
Two EJN representatives participated in this Expert Group meeting: one from the EJN Secretariat and EJN Contact Point Světlana Kloučková, Director of the International Department of the Supreme Public Prosecutor’s Office in the Czech Republic. Ms. Kloučková delivered a presentation on the first topic, titled "Cross-Border Surveillance – The EJN Perspective”.
