On 12 March 2026, the EJN Secretariat organised an online Introductory Meeting with the newly appointed EJN Contact Points from Ukraine. The meeting brought together the EJN Secretariat, Ukrainian EJN Contact Points and EJN Contact Points from EU Member States to exchange views on the role and activities of the European Judicial Network and to strengthen cooperation between EU Member States and Ukraine.
During the meeting, the new Contact Points were introduced to the work and structure of the EJN, as well as to the role of EJN Contact Points in facilitating judicial cooperation in criminal matters in practice. The session also included a presentation of the practical e-tools available on the EJN website, which support practitioners in cross-border cooperation.
Practical case examples of cooperation facilitated through the EJN were shared by Jakob Willaredt, EJN National Correspondent for Denmark, and Francisco Jiménez-Villarejo, EJN Contact Point for Spain. Their presentations illustrated how the EJN supports cross-border judicial cooperation in practice and highlighted the practitioner-driven nature of the EJN.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on ongoing cooperation with Ukraine and on practical cooperation needs. The EJN Secretariat welcomed the engagement of the Ukrainian Contact Points and looks forward to continuing to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine in the future.
