26th Annual Meeting of the German EJN Contact Points and 14th Regional EJN Meeting, Berlin, 4-5 May 2026

From 4 to 5 May 2026, the 26th Annual Meeting of the German EJN Contact Points and the 14th Regional EJN Meeting took place in Berlin, bringing together Contact Points from Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, and Switzerland, alongside representatives of EUROJUST, the EPPO Centre Berlin, and Liaison Officers from the United Kingdom and France.

The meeting focused on the topic of “special features and challenges in processing transfer requests where the underlying facts are also punishable under national law”. Participants also received insightful presentations from the various Member States on national approaches to double jeopardy, conflicting jurisdictions, and ne bis in idem rules. The exchange highlighted both differences and common ground, contributed to the more efficient preparation of extradition requests, and once again demonstrated the practical importance of close cooperation within the EJN Network.

The meeting also provided the EJN Secretariat with the opportunity to give participants an overview of the Secretariat’s main activities during the previous year and to outline the upcoming topics for 2026.

All participants were delighted to reconnect with long-standing colleagues and to establish new professional contacts in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
