The 3rd Regional Meeting of Contact Points of the EJN was held in Warsaw on 9 and 10 October 2023. The meeting was attended by contact points from the National Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Justice, regional and circuit prosecutor's offices as well as invited foreign guests.

On 4 October 2023, the 15th National Correspondents’ meeting of the European Judicial Network (EJN), under the Spanish Presidency, took place at Eurojust premises.

During 28 - 29 September 2023, the Swedish Prosecution Authority hosted an EJN meeting dedicated to MLA/EIO situations where secret coercive measures – such as audio-recording or GPS tracking – are carried out in a suspect’s vehicle that unexpectedly crosses a border.

From 18 to 20 September the Head of the EJN Secretariat, Hugh Dockry, together with the National Member for Slovenia at Eurojust, Mr Boštjan Škrlec, attended EJN’s Regional Meeting in Gozd Martuljek (SI).

On 21 September Hugh Dockry, Head of the EJN Secretariat, attended COPEN to present the Conclusions of the 60th Plenary Meeting (Stockholm, SE), on the EAW, Encrypted Information/EIO, Freezing and Confiscation and finally Transfer of Proceedings.

UNODC United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has approached the EJN Secretariat to share with the practitioners their recent paper (2023) in relation to the asset recovery in the framework of The United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).

The Specialised Committee established by Article 8(1)(r) of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, of 19 June 2023 establishing a standard form for requests for mutual legal assistance.

From 6 to 8 July 2023, Hugh Dockry, the Head of the EJN Secretariat, together with the President of Eurojust, Mr Ladislav Hamran, attended the 11th Annual Conference of the Palestinian Public Prosecution Services in Ramallah, Palestine.

On 31 May and 1 June, Spain, Portugal and Andorra took part in the Regional Meeting of the European Judicial Network to exchange experiences in the fight against transnational crimes.

The meeting dealt with the enforcement of foreign judgement regarding sanctions involving the deprivation of liberty apart from prison regime in the different member states.

On Tuesday, 27 June, the Head of the EJN Secretariat, Hugh Dockry, met with the Minister for Justice of Ireland, Ms. Helen McEntee, and the Secretary General of the Department of Justice, Ms. Oonagh McPhillips.

From 26 to 28 April 2023, the Regional Meeting of the European Judicial Network (EJN) on Digitalisation of Justice – Consequences for the International Cooperation and the Role of the EJN took place in Linz, Austria, organised by the Austrian Contact Points with the support of the EJN Secretariat.

The European Judicial Network (EJN) celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The anniversary, together with key EU developments in the area of judicial cooperation, will be featured during the EJN plenary meeting in Stockholm being held between the 12th and 14th of June.

Last week, Mr De La Mata and Mr Dockry attended the first in-person South East Asia Justice Network (SEAJust) plenary meeting in Seoul, Republic of South Korea, with a view of further strengthening the relationship and cooperation with Eurojust and the EJN.

On 12 April, the 5th meeting between the EJN Contact Points, EU Member States and the Western Balkans (WB), co-organised by the IPA2019 project, was organised in Budva, Montenegro.

On 18 April 2023, the CJEU delivered a new judgment in a case C-699/21 where the person requested for surrender suffered from a psychotic disorder, which put him at a significant risk of committing suicide if surrendered and subsequently detained.
